![]() ![]() Thank you so much Ann for letting me feature your story with our readers from all over the world. Eichenheim GC, Austria Links Lady Bay, South Australia We had an Australia v Fancourt members competition on the Links course there followed by a South African Braai. There were some beautiful courses in Austria, Eichenheim was amazing, it’s very hard to play good golf when all you want to do is look at the alps and the cows with bells on.įancourt in South Africa is lovely, and the Montague course, designed by Gary Player is South Africa’s version of Augusta. We’ve met some wonderful new friends who are at the same stage in their lives as us. So far we’ve been to South Africa twice, Bavaria, Spain and Portugal, Vietnam and played golf in Perth, Margaret River and Victoria here in Australia. “ We both retired 6 years ago and have discovered golf holidays. The game also has great opportunities for travel. Lots of fun for us all”.Īsked what she was currently working on, Ann said “ I’m not a very confident pitch shot player, there was a video showing the flop shot not long ago that has given me a little bit more confidence”. My husband and I have recently become Community Instructors, and have had a couple of clinics with local kids. To Ann, golf means meeting new people, playing different courses and facing the personal challenges the game throws up “It can be frustrating at times but you soon forget the bad shots when you hit a really good one. Sometimes if I finished early enough we could get 18 in“. ![]() “ I had a couple of hours to spare so my partner who was a baker and had afternoons off and I would go to our local course and play 9 holes most days. Kangaroos at Ganmain Golf Club BRG Kings Island, Vietnam Ann with Sharon PurnellĪnn started playing golf in 1982 when she was working at the local post office doing deliveries in the mornings and sorting later in the afternoons. Ganmain Golf Club like other clubs in areas without ready access to lots of water for irrigation has oiled sand greens rather than the grass surfaces that most golfers enjoy putting on. Ann mainly plays at the Ganmain Golf Club with her regular fun group of Karen, Leonie and Janelle. Our women’s golf featured player is Ann Webber who lives near Wagga, a regional city in New South Wales, Australia. We love golf for the personal challenge to improve and especially for the fun times outside in the fresh air with our friends.
